Steamboat Youth Lacrosse will be offering a Spring 2018 Boys Lacrosse  program which will be open to all boys whose ih grades 4-8.  Experience is NOT necessary. 3rd grade boys are not eligible for this program even if they are of age.

We aim to have fun while learning the sport of lacrosse. The three objectives of Steamboat Youth Lacrosse are:

  1. Sportsmanship
  2. Effort
  3. Fun!

We will continue to have a “Stick Skill Minimum Requirement” for all age groups. These requirements must be met before a player can take the field in a game – this does not apply for practice. These minimums are reasonable and will be achievable for all players. Our goal is to enable all players to have more fun - the game is not fun if players cannot catch and throw. This is not an effort to “cut” players.

Tentative Practice Schedule:

U-10/11 Tuesdays/Thursdays 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

U-12 Tuesdays/Thursdays 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

U-13 Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

U-15 Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Be prepared to be flexible as we will practice whenever we can depending on field, turf, and indoor facility availability. "Normal" field practices are Tuesday/Thursday, but we plan to do a lot of stickhandling on other weekdays and some weekends. Unfortunately some practices will be announced with little notice due to the nature of weather and facility shortage in the spring.

April 9 is our tentative field practice start: however, we plan to hold extra stick skill practices during March/April when we can find available space. These practices will likely not line up with normal practice times/days because of space limitations, so please check your email regularly.

There will be no practice the week of public school spring break (April 23-27).

Tentative Game Schedule for all teams:

1.) Vail Lax Jam - in Edwards (May 5-6)

2.) Aspen Shootout - in El Jebel (May 12-13)

Weekend of May 19-20 - No games planned

3.) Steamboat Classic - in Steamboat (May 26-27)

4.) Rocky Mountain Jamboree - Schaefer Athletic Complex in Denver (June 9-10)

Once again, these are tentative schedules. Parents, please be prepared to be flexible. As soon as a schedule change is made, you will be notified.
